Being an anchor as well as managing editor of national NBC Nightly News, he is probably the most viewed person in United States. He was born in May 5, 1959 in Elmira, New York. He is the youngest among four siblings and his father was an executive vice president of National Retail Merchants Association. He moved to Middletown, New Jersey at the age of ten. He started his career in 1981 when he first worked in broadcasting at KOAM-TV in Pittsburg, Kansas. In his career, he covered different news at different places. He worked at TV station covering the news of Washington D.C. the following year after starting the career. He then worked for WCAU in Philadelphia. In 1993, he joined NBC news. He worked there as an anchor for the national Weekend Nightly News from 2004 onwards.

He reached 55 years of age in 2014. He is tall with the height of 5 feet and 8 inches.  He is an ordinary person who loves his work very much. In 7th of June, 1986, William married Jane Gillian Williams of New Canaan, Connecticut. They have one son and a daughter: Douglas Williams and Allison Williams. After marriage, he started to live in New Canaan with his family. There has been no issue of divorce as both he and his wife are happily married. His daughter is an actress. She has currently started her career from HBO’s Girls.
