Chris O'Dowd is a well-known comedian and an Irish actor who was born in 9 October 1979 in Boyle, County Roscommon. He is best known for his performance in the Channel 4 comedy The IT Crowd as Roy Trenneman. His film work includes Bridesmaids, This Is 40 and Gulliver's Travels. Chris is currently working in the Sky One television series Moone Boy.

Chris was raised in a good environment by his graphic designer father Sean and a psychotherapist mother, Denise. As a child, he was a fun loving guy who had keen interest in sports and acting. He was also good in his studies. He loved playing football and at the very early age, he represented Roscommon in Gaelic football at under-16. Chris attended University College, Dublin where he learned politics and sociology. Right after this, he joined the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art but could not obtain a degree.
