An American film, television and theatre actor Dustin Lee Hoffman was born on August 8, 1937 in Los Angeles, California, U.S. He mainly portrays the antiheroes and vulnerable characters. The notable movies played by Hoffman include Marathon Man, papillon, Little Big Man, Mignight Cowboy, Tootsie, hook, Rain Man and Wag the Dog. He has also won multiple awards for his outstanding work.

Hoffman is born to parents Lillian and Harry Hoffman. He attended Los Angeles High School and later joined Santa Monica College to study medicine. Later he joined Pasadena Playhouse to pursue his career in acting and also got enrolled in the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City.

In 1967, he did his film debut by appearing as Hap in the movie The Tiger Makes Out. The same year, Hoffman had his first main role as Benjamin "Ben" Braddock in the movie The Graduate.  For his role in The Graduate, Hoffman became nominated for several awards including Academy Award for Best Actor, Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and Laurel Award for Male Comedy Performance. 

The year 1969 also became the Golden year for Hoffman as his work in the movie Midnight Cowboy was appreciated by many viewers. The same year, he was also cast as the main role in the film John and Mary. For this role too, Hoffman won BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. His character as Lenny Bruce in Lenny was also nominated for Academy Award for Best Actor, BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Later in 1978, he produced and acted in the movie Straight Time. In 1979, Hoffman was cast as a lead role in the movie Kramer vs. Kramer. Likewise, he has appeared in many other blockbusters including Tootsie, Death of Salesman, Rain Man, papillon and Wag the Dog. Hoffman has also appeared in TV series like The Simpsons and Luck. His voice was also featured in many movies like Kung Fu Panda, The Tale of Despereaux, and Kung Fu Panda 2. The Rain Man director Levinson has stated in an interview about Hoffman that is a unique person who can do a good comedy as well as drama.

Recently Hoffman has appeared in movies like Quartet, Chef, and Roald Dahl's Esio Trot. He is also busy filming The Cobbler, Boychoir, and Kung Fu Panda 3 which are rumored to be release in 2014. Besides, his audiobook Jerzy Kosinski's Being There (novel) was also released at Audible.com, for which he was nominated for  Audie Award for Best Solo Narration - Male.

Hoffman was married to Anne Byrne in May 1969. The couples had a daughter named Jenna from his wife Byrne. The couples divorced in 1980. Then he married businesswoman Lisa Hoffman in the same year. They have four children; two sons and two daughters. There were also rumors spread that Hoffman is dead, which caused concern among his fans. Hoffman has reached 76 years old in age.
