Jane Birkin is an English actress and singer born on 14 December 1946 in Marylebone, London to parents Judy Campbell, an English actress, best known for her work on stage and David Birkin, a Royal Navy lieutenant-commander and World War II spy. She is best known for her relationship with Serge Gainsbourg in the 1970s. Recently, she has written her own album, directed a film as well as became an outspoken proponent of democracy in Burma. now, Jane is already 69 years old.
In 1966, Birkin started her acting career at the young age of 20 by appearing briefly in the film blow up following the fantasy-like model in the psychedelic film Wonderwall in 1968. Same year, she auditioned for the lead role in the French movie Slogan. Although, she didn't know French, she was chosen for the movie alongside Serge Gainsbourg. She and Gainsbourg released the duet "Je t'aime... moi non plus" ("I love you... me neither"), which Gainsbourg wrote for brigitte bardot. Jane also appeared on Gainsbourg's 1971 album Histoire de Melody Nelson, portraying the Lolita-like protagonist in song and on the cover. After that in 1975, she appeared in the Gainsbourg's first film, Je t'aime... moi non plus, which created a stir for frank examination of sexual ambiguity and for which she was nominated for a Best Actress César Award.
Birkin recorded several albums, including Baby Alone in Babylone, Amours des Feintes, Lolita Go Home, and Rendez-vous and won female artist of the year. In 1978, she appeared in the movie Death on the Nile and Evil Under the Sun in 1982. She starred in two movies directed by Jacques Doillon – as Anne in La Fille Prodigue (1981) and as Alma in La pirate. Birkin also co-starred with John Gielgud in Live All Fair. Later in 2006, she played the title role in the French movie Elektra.
Birkin was the one to get the OBE. She was awarded OBE in 2001. Birkin won "Best Actress" award at the 1985 Venice Film Festival for her performance in the film Dust, and "Best Actress" award at the Orleans Film Festival for Leave All Fair. She also received Ordre National du Mérite. Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas created a black supple leather bag for her: the Birkin bag in 1984 as requested by Birkin.
Birkin is one of the style icons in her time. There are several fashion stores including dresses, shoes, bags, and wedding dresses inspired by Birkin. The design of her wedding dress style was one of the most famous styles among the brides of that time and now too. Her picture in her wedding dress can also be found on internet.

Regarding her personal life, she was married to John Barry in 1965. Barry is well known for writing music for many James Bond films. The couples had a daughter but, the couples divorced in 1968. She also had a relationship with Serge Gainsbourg, whom she met on the set of Slogan in 1968, but they didn't married. They had a daughter named Charlotte Gainsbourg but the couples broke up after 13 years of their relationship. After that she married director Jacques Doillon and had her third daughter Lou Doillon in 1982. But, this relationship also didn't get stronger and ended up in 1990.
