Javier Manuel Hernandez, Jr. popularly known as Jay Hernandez is an American actor born on February 20, 1978 in Montebello, California, U. S. His parents are Isis and Javier Hernandez Sr. His father was a mechanic and his mother was a secretary and accountant. Currently he is busy filming two movies Max and The Night is Young. Hernandez belongs to American nationality.

 Regarding his educational background, Hernandez attended Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, California. Later he transferred to Schurr High School in Montebello. Till now he has already appeared in many movies and television series. Hernandez did his film debut by appearing in the film Living the Life, where he portrayed the role of Kikicho in year 2000. In the following year he appeared in two movies, where he portrayed Carlos Nunez and Marine in the movie Crazy/Beautiful and Joy Ride. The next year, Jay was cast in The Rookie as Joaquin "Wack" Campos.

Later in 2004, Jay appeared in three movies like Torque, Ladder 49 and Friday Night Lights. His voice was also featured in the 2006's movie Karas: The Prophecy, for the character Nue. In year 2008, Hernandez was seen in four movies. He played Junior in American Son, Javier Villareal in Lakeview Terrace, Jake in Quarantine and Ozzy in Nothing Like the Holidays. In 2013, he appeared as Carlos Coto in movie Trooper starring Mira Sorvino.

Apart from the movies, Hernandez has also appeared in many television series. He had roles in television series like Hang Time in 1998. The show continued till 2000. In 1999, he was seen in one episode of USA High, where he appeared as Jose. In the following year, he appeared in one episode of series Undressed and One World. Later he was seen in two episodes of American Family in 2002, where he played the role of Cisco. From 2006 to 2007, Hernandez appeared in total 14 episodes of Six Degrees, where he played Carlos Green. Likewise, he also appeared in seven episodes of Last Resort, three episodes of Nashville, and one episode of Ghost Ghirls. Currently he is playing Daniel Acosta in series Gang Related.

Hernandez has also been nominated for several awards for his beautiful acting skills. In 2002, he has been nominated for ALMA Awards for Outstanding actor in a Motion Picture for his work in crazy beautiful. In 2006, he was nominated for Fangoria Chainsaw Awards for Dude You Don't Wanna Mess With (Best Hero) for film hostel as well as the Teen Choice Awards for Movie - Choice Scream for hostel itself.
