Robin Cousins, a British former competitive figure skater was born on 17 august, 1957 in Bristol, England, UK. His parents were Jo and Fred, a sports secretary and a civil servant respectively. He has two older brothers Nicholas and Martin. Recognizing his keen interest in skating, he left school at young age of 16 and started learning Ice skating. He is popular among people for his work on Dancing on Ice (2006), The Cutting Edge (1992) and Facing the Music: The Return of Torvill and Dean (1994). He stepped in the ice for the first time when he was on holiday at Westover Road Ice Rink in Bournemouth. He was nine at that time. He enjoyed skating so much that later le took lessons on it. Cousins also starred, produced, directed and choreographed many international TV ice shows, including The Nutcracker: A Fantasy on Ice, Sleeping Beauty on Ice, The Wizard of Oz on Ice, Toy Story on Ice, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express on Ice, Holiday on Ice, and the movie The Cutting Edge. He has also written his name in the Guiness World Record in the longest axel jump and longest backflip on figure skates reaching nineteen feet one inch and eighteen feet on November 16, 1983. Cousins starred in the Prince in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Munkustrap in Cats, and Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show in the West End. Before this, he played the Prince in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Grand Opera House, Belfast.He has also given his time to British synchronized swimming team. Later on he formed his own ice skating Performance Company in 1983. He has also been the part of Meningitis UK organization. He also did charities in many organizations including Demelza Hospice, Anna’s Hope and Rocking horse. Cousins has been retired from the skating in 2004 January.
