Born as one of the three children to Raffaele Martini Pandozy, an Italian-born artist, and mother Patricia Martini who was a private investigator. When he was a child, his parents separated and his mother remarried an actor/ director named Stuart Margolin.

Thus his mother and his new father were in the movie industry and so it was what dragged him into the same field. Even his brother Christopher Martini and his younger sister Michelle Martini are actors. Raised in New York City, Max learned acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse from a young age.
